Wow...that's fairly impressive. Today the military uses robots (somewhat more successfully) to search tunnels in the Mideast, but they're still very useful as part of a general strategy. I've heard Cuba has built an island-wide network (they've had 40 years) in anticipation of a possible attack.

I want a coast-to-coast network of tunnels! That would be so cool. 8)
