THE THIRD INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON VIETNAMESE STUDIES

Hanoi, 4-7 December 2008
(Call for Paper)
Under the aegis of the Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Vietnam National University, Hanoi and Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences are co-organizing The Third International Conference on Vietnamese Studies: Vietnam: Integration and Development. The Conference will be held at Mỹ Đình National Convention Centre, Hanoi, Vietnam between 4 and 7 December, 2008.
The Conference seeks to offer scholars of Vietnamese Studies all over the world the opportunity to exchange their research findings with each other in order to improve our current knowledge on many aspects of Vietnamese Studies, especially in the current process of integration and development of the country. Simultaneously, the Conference will serve as a meeting ground for scholars of Vietnamese Studies from different countries to meet and promote their co-operation.


The Conference is divided into nineteen panels:
Traditional Vietnamese history
Contemporary Vietnamese history
Vietnamese culture
Acculturation
Vietnamese economy
Vietnamese society
Vietnamese laws
Traditional Vietnamese countryside and agriculture
Contemporary Vietnamese countryside and agriculture
Urban and Urbanization
Linguistics and Vietnamese language
Vietnamese literature and art
Source materials for Vietnamese Studies and methods for information exploitation and analysis
Education and training of human resources
Theory and method in study and training Vietnamese Studies
Synthesis area studies: Thăng Long–Hanoi, South, and the other parts of Vietnam
International relations between Vietnam and the other regional countries
Foreign trade-oriented economy
Natural resources, environment, and sustainable developmentThe organizers look forward to attracting the attention of and participation in this large-scale conference from scholars of Vietnamese Studies. The fruits of the conference will not only contribute greatly to the building up of our knowledge on Vietnam but will also promote the integration process of Vietnam into the present-day international community. It will have the added advantage of contributing to the upgrading of the study of and training in Vietnamese Studies.
With the above-mentioned aims in mind, the Organizing Committee would like to invite scholars, scientists, universities, research institutes and centres, and institutions with an interest in Vietnamese Studies officially to contribute papers and to participate in the conference.
The official languages to be used in the conference are Vietnamese and English. The Registration Form is attached below (VNS2008-Registration Form (http://hoithao.ivides.edu.vn/post/vns2008-registerformeng.doc)).
Please submit your Registration Form and abstract before 30 April 2008. The full paper should be submitted before 15 August 2008.
The official invitation letter will be sent to participants in September 2008.
The Organizing Committee will send updated information to each participant after they have paid the fee of $100 per person.
Participation fee may be exempted for undergraduate and graduate students and poor participants should they provide the Organizing Committee with suitable letter of recommendation.Please send your comment, registration form, abstract, and full paper to the address below:
